Vinas del Lago is a boutique hotel located on the shore of Lake Izabal, the largest lake in Guatemala, and just steps from the Castillo San Felipe. Many of the rooms feature breathtaking views of the lake, and the dock area is the perfect place to take in one of the prettiest sunsets you'll ever see.
The hotel caters to families and has many family-size rooms available, a large pool, and a restaurant offering national and international cuisine. They also have a small zoo with local animals and can arrange private tours of the lake and other nearby locations.

Accessibility: There are two ways to arrive to the hotel: by land and by water. From Tikal or Guatemala City, take a bus to Fronteras and catch a microbus (3Q) or a taxi ($25). Ask for a microbus going to the "Castillo." If you're coming by water, ask for a lancha at the municipal dock. Prices vary, but they should charge around 100-200Q.

Triple (family) room (9): All of these rooms have gorgeous views of the lake, and are perfect for large families. Three rooms feature two double beds, a bunk bed, and private bathroom. Six rooms have one double bed and two twin beds. All have air conditioning.

- Low season: 330Q per night
Activities and Tours
While they do not offer specific activities, the staff is happy to arrange private tours through local agencies and is also located a few minutes walking distance from the Castle of San Felipe. The castle costs 10-15Q to enter and is a famous landmark in the area.
