Hotelito Perdido
| Location: | Rio Dulce |
El Hotelito Perdido is a small, rustic jungle hideaway. It is located in the middle of the rainforest on Río Lampara, a small river connected to Río Dulce. Our lodge is built in the typical jungle style. The accommodation we provide ranges from a small two-bed "dormitory" to cozy split-level bungalows equipped with a toilet and shower.
We offer drinks, restaurant services (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and home-made bread and have a BBQ area. We rent kayaks and cayucos, have a dock to swim off, and if you are feeling lazy there are hammocks to relax in and books to read. Our electricity is provided by solar panel, and we collect rainwater for bathing. We are also consciously helping to reforest the jungle.

Getting here: Our Lodge is located 12km from Livingston and 30km from the town of Río Dulce (El Relleno/Fronteras). If you are traveling from Guatemala City it is cheaper and easier to get here through Puerto Barríos and Livingston.
From Puerto Barríos: Public boats leave for Livingston at every hour, provided the boat is full. The transport slows down after 16.00. The fare is 35Q and the trip takes 30 minutes. For adventurous travelers, there is also a ferry that travels 2 times daily (10.30 and 17.00). This trip takes one and a half hours and costs about 20Q.
From Livingston: We can pick you up with our boat from Lívingston (40Q per person) if you call us. You may also try to hitch a local boat from the Texaco gas station or the main dock. Public boats heading for Río Dulce leave Lívingston from main dock at 9.30am and 1.00pm and will charge 50Q. These boats will drop you off at el Hotelito Perdido, if you inform them that this is your destination.
From Río Dulce: There are collective (public) boats scheduled from Río Dulce for Lívingston from the main dock (muelle municipal) at 09.30 and 13.30 and possibly at 16.00 (provided that the boat is full). The trip takes over one hour and costs 125Q per person. These boats will drop you off at el Hotelito Perdido, if you inform them that this is your destination.

Activities and tours
We rent kayaks and cayucos, have a dock to swim off, and if you are feeling lazy there are hammocks to relax in and books to read. If you are feeling active our guides Luis and Isaias can take you on a variety of tours (min 2 persons):
- 4–5 hour hike to Livingston (beautiful and unique trek with outstanding view from the highest point of the Río Dulce Canyon)
- 3 hour walk in the jungle starting in community project Ak' Tenamit and ending with a dip in the local Hot Springs.
- Kayak tour to "Biotopo Chocon Machacas" Manatee Reserve — a particularly beautiful and also the most protected part of the National Park. A great possibility to see monkies, toucans, parrots, etc (3 hours).
- 2 or 3 hour night walk in the jungle. Scary, but very cool.
- Full-moon kayak escapades to the Hot Springs.
There are many activities that do not require a guide. There are several tributaries and mangroves to explore with great bird life (especially early in the mornings), a kayak trip to the waterfall at the end of Río Lampara, a visit to the Hot Springs or kayaking through the Río Dulce Canyon.
