Rasta Mesa Cultural Center is a unique place to experience traditional Garifuna culture in a fun and relaxed setting.  Join them every evening at 6:00 for a traditional Garifuna cooking class where you will learn how to make typical local specialties from scratch, and then sit down to enjoy the meal together.  There is usually live music and you are invited to join in the drumming and dancing after you’ve cooked your meal.

All of the profits go toward supporting the Center's activities, including providing after school educational programs for the kids, traditional drumming and art classes, environmental education and beach cleanup days.  The food is all  bought locally and many of the ingredients are locally grown.  They are currently working on creating an organic farm which will be used to cultivate produce for the restaurant.  They also sponsor bi-monthly beach cleanup days, children’s soccer teams and lots of other community activities.

The class lasts three hours and costs $7.
