Located just off the main highway towards Tikal, entering into the lush Botanical Garden El Ciricote is like stepping into another, hidden world.  Well-maintained trails twist through the jungle, and individual trees and plants are carefully labeled.  Here you will find a plethora of local flora and fauna, and also gain a better sense of the region’s biodiversity and the importance of protecting it.

Feel like swimming in a crystal-clear jungle waterfall?  Las Escobas is one of the most important protected areas in the region and visiting it gives you a wonderful opportunity to view wildlife in its natural habitat and explore the jungle.  There is a well marked path you can hike on and a beautiful waterfall you can swim in after your hike.  The area can be visited independently or with a tour operator. 

Picture sailing through the wide open ocean for hours and arriving at an isolated tropical paradise.  The Sapodilla Keys Marine Park Reserve, a protected reef and chain of small islands off the coast of southern Belize, is a special area well worth the trip.  Unrivaled snorkeling and scuba diving abounds, as the reef is practically untouched and rarely visited, and the small, deserted islands are the perfect place to spend a romantic night under the stars.
