A tapir naps in the sunThis boar-like animal lives in the rain forests of Central and South America.  Tapirs have hoofed feet, making them closely related to horses and rhinoceroses.  The animals stand about three feet high, and can weight up to 700 pounds. Although they are primarily nocturnal, tapir are seen scrounging for food in the jungle at all hours.  Like rhinoceroses, tapir are adept swimmers and spend a significant amount of time lounging in rivers.
